How do i start to be a makeup artist?
I want to go to school for cosmetology. Specifically makeup. How should i start preparing to be a makeup artist now? I practice makeup on my self all the time and my friends say they love it. I look in magazines and try to copy model’s makeup on myself. BUt i’m not sure if that’s enough. Any tips or experiences you have?
Keep doing what you are doing and practicing your skills on yourself and your friends. Experience is the best preparation!
As the others mentioned, you can also check out Youtube for lots of tutorials by other makeup artists to give you ideas and new techniques to practice on.
Also, be sure to talk to your school guidance counselors to find out if your school has any cosmetology classes (many high schools do, though I’m not sure about junior high or middle school), and enroll in them if they are available.
